Newtown Curtains Custom Made Process
(203) 270-8643

A Newtown Curtains designer will come to your home to measure your windows and help you choose designs and fabrics that make your home beautiful.  Newtown Curtains supplies everything necessary - fabric, hardware and trim.  Often times the perfect fabrics and styles can be chosen right in the first meeting.  At that time your order will be written up and a deposit will be collected – 50% of labor costs and 70% of material costs.  There is a one time $75.00 fee for your first sales call.
1.   An appointment is made for an in-home sales consultation.

2.   How much will this cost?

With a custom-made product the cost is widely variable.  Of course ready made products are much cheaper; custom treatments are for the customer that wants something unique and special. These days, families are spending much more time at home and want to create a sanctuary to relax in.  Everybody has a budget so sometimes it makes sense to put custom window treatments in the areas where you entertain and put ready made treatments in bedrooms, etc.  A general rule of thumb for pricing is $100-$200/linear foot.  So for example if you have a window that is 4 feet wide your costs for fabric, labor and installation would be between $400 and $800.00.

3.   Your order is sent for fabrication.

This is the hard part.  Unlike ready made, custom treatments are hand made and take time.  Most of the work is done by local Connecticut seamstresses.  Occasionally your order will be sent to one of two workrooms that can handle very large jobs.  These workrooms are right here in the United States; nothing is sent overseas.  Whether your order is large or small it will take approximately 8 – 10 weeks for completion. This is after fabric and trim are received.

4.   You will be contacted to schedule an installation.

When your treatments are ready you will be notified of such and that final payment is due prior to installation.  A certified Newtown Curtains installer will come to your home to install your treatments.
